This has been driving me nuts! (yes, I know I need to get a life...Wink)

I have copied what I see but am not allowed to post it and I was wondering where I got the link from originally..it was from the old PWSA UK forums, the one that we used to write on.

The link is still there, it is on a post that us oldies participated on and Lizzie started,,"why is this site so inactive" posted in April last year!

I wonder why you are unable to join in the conversations Jan..does nothing happen at all?

Well, we are half way there, at least we have had a semblance of a conversation!

I'm sorry that I had to sign out in the end, the site was just so slow it was unworkable.

Better luck next time Smile

Depending on whether you are logged in or not (or have selected the site to remember your logon details and log you in automatically) you will see one of 2 things.

When not logged on you get the site's homepage, which has an intro to the site and a list of activity at the bottom (the old version of the site had more detail about the activity but not sure how to get that back..  You also get a list of Blog and Forum activity since you last visited the site on the right hand side.

When you are logged on, you go to your own profile page, which lists the activity of your friends in the middle.  Also the Blog and Forum activity since you last logged on is now on the left hand side.

In both cases, new posts and updates are at the top of the lists and clicking on the "View All" link will show you the posts with new activity at the top and in Bold.

Hope this helps.  As usual any questions or queries please let me know.  Also if there are certain things you don't like and would like to see improved or added, then pop a note in the "Site Suggestions" forum.

How I see what Ladybird sees!!! Sorry if this is repeated I have written this twice and it has not appeared!!!

Firstly sign out. This takes you to a page with "sign out" on it.

Then Click on HOME button on bar above.

Scroll down this page for site activities.

I can now see why she says we have some strangely named people joining site!!

Today I have seen on site activity 2 new members with casino related names, when people sign up to join are they automatically members or do they still need to be approved before they join? i take it if you see strange names they are rejected. I think I remember having a email prior to being a member from site manager.

Hello Jan

When people request to join the site they do not become members automatically. Contact is made with them prior to approval being given. As I mentioned earlier there have been some unusual requests recently but every effort is made to ensure, as far as possible, only genuine applicants are registered.

As a quick update on this little saga.  I did find some new interesting configuration for the site whilst setting up the new theme site.

I have now found it possible to choose what activity appears on the front page when you are not signed in, so no longer will you see registrations there ;-), it only shows updates to blogs and forums now.

I'm also going to do a post to ask what people want to see when they log in, either:

  • The user activity page (what you see now), shows your activity and your friends activity with the list of new blogs and forum posts on the left hand side
  • The Main front page, which shows new activity at the bottom and seperate blog and forum activity on the right hand side.

If I could ask everyone to look at the first page they see when they log in and then log out and let me know which is better.  Most votes wins
